Physiotherapy
I am a qualified Chartered Human Physiotherapist (BSc, MCSP) & alongside my physiotherapy degree I trained as a matwork and Reformer Pilates instructor.
I am passionate about getting people to move better and to take control of their pain and symptoms. I always try to get my clients back to doing what they love as quickly as possible, even if we have to take a bit of a detour on route.

Treatment Options
-
Pain relief: in the early, inflammatory stages of an injury or condition, ice, compression and elevation is beneficial. Where appropriate I also use Dry Needling, TENS and a variety of taping techniques to relieve pain.
-
Manual therapy (hands-on): gentle movements or mobilisations of your affected joints, together with massage of the connective and soft-tissues.
-
An exercise programme, custom-made to your needs, whatever your age, for pain relief and restoration of movement and function. For example, the patient with a typical sports injury may need a programme of exercises to address muscle imbalance, poor core stability, tightness of muscles and fascia and weakness of surrounding muscles. Balance and coordination may need re-education. This programme will be specific to the patient's dysfunction and chosen sport. By contrast, the older patient may need a programme of exercises to slow down the process of osteoporosis (bone thinning), improve balance to prevent falls, or to the rehabilitation after a fracture or operation. You will always be issued with you exercise programme in a hard copy or with videos
-
Education regarding your injury/condition so that you fully understand why we are doing what we are doing and understand how the body works.
-
Ideas to improve your wellness and fit your rehabilitation to your lifestyle . This will embrace both work and hobbies, along with exercise and diet. Relaxation techniques may be part of the package.
-
Ongoing assessment focusing on goal achievement. Your programme will be monitored and adapted as you progress.
